A blood test could help detect lung cancer © MAXPPP

According to the work of the team of Professor Hofman, a blood test can detect early lung cancer. His team worked on the basis of a test developed by the French company Rarecells diagnosis.

“Early diagnosis means high probability of eliminating cancer definitively” said Friday on France Info, Patrizia Paterlini-Bréchot, professor of molecular and cell biology at the University Paris-Descartes, and founder of Rarecells diagnosis. “And here we have evidence that the test we have developed, we have validated are validated by international groups for years on patients with cancer, was able to detect cancer years before becomes detectable by imaging.”

“The test can detect a tumor cell mixed with 50 billion blood cells”

“We knew for years that tumors that put at risk the life of the patient diffuse into the blood of rare cells. We knew that they had to detect because they are in the blood when the tumor mass is still very small. But it had to be very sensitive. And then the test can detect a tumor cell mixed with 50 billion blood cells. And it should not be mistaken that the test is reliable. And the team of Professor Hofman has used the test in patients diagnosed cancer but without risk. They have shown that the test is able to detect, years before. “

“Early diagnosis means high probability of eliminating cancer definitively” (Patrizia Paterlini-Bréchot Edwige Cut)
